Songs 2013

Don Johnson- Cant take your memory

We all know him from Miami Vice. But he can sing too. The lady in the videoclip is Lori Singer, best known from Fame and Footloose.

You can pack your bags, take a walk
Throw your hands in the air, refuse to talk
Swear to be damned, it was all a bad dream
Leaving me with a silent scream

You can take the photos off the walls
Leave empty echoes in the halls
I still see your face when I look around
I see your lips move, but there's no sound

You can throw away reminders of you and me
But you can't take your memory
No, you can't take that part of you from me
Can't take your memory
It's so deep in the heart of me

I know some day I'll break free
From thinkin' 'bout those used-to-be's
Even though you're long since gone
It's those little things about you that keep hangin' on

You can throw away reminders of you and me
But you can't take your memory
No, you can't take that part of you from me
Can't take your memory
It's so deep in the heart of me

It's no good to dwell upon it they say
I've found a thousand ways to make it through each day
Then the sun goes down, and the shadows grow tall
My mind goes to you like it's nothing at all

'Cause you're still in my heart
You're still in my heart, baby
You're still in my heart

Can't take your memory
No, you can't take that part of you from me
You can take my heart, tear it apart
But you'll never, never take your memory
'Cause you're still in my heart

I love the song cause it is a touchy song and surrounded with wonderful musicians Don Johnson makes a wonderful album.

A lovely song. Klaatu. A routine day

Klaatu was a Canadian progressive rock group formed in 1973 by the duo of John Woloschuk and Dee Long. They named themselves after the extraterrestrial Klaatu portrayed by Michael Rennie in the film The Day the Earth Stood Still. After recording two non-charting singles, drummer Terry Draper was added to the line-up; this trio would comprise Klaatu throughout the rest of the band's recording career. (wikipedia)

http://www.klaatu.org/

It started off a routine day
I got through the morning in the usual way
I caught the bus on time
Good morning, Mr. Driver, drive
As I sat inside my overcoat I clutched my cane
And pressed my nose against the foggy window pane
Ho hum
The life I lead would even make a dead man yawn

Midday comes
I break for lunch
With my sandwich & a beer I go on a hunch
To the park where I hope to find
A little bit of peace of mind
As I sat there on a bench amidst the rodent race
I felt a strange sensation that without a trace appeared
But then as quickly disappeared again

So tell me what´s the bloody point of playing the game
With so much to lose yet so little to gain
You sell your life away
Can´t you see you are just a cog working like a dog
You trade your future for a dead-end job
That is full of routine days
Routine days

I race the clock to the end of my day
The paycheck in my pocket makes me feel okay
But was it worth the grind
Just to keep from falling behind
I stand here in the queue behind a foul cigar
My face discreetly buried in a book on Mars
Humdrum
And I am waiting on the pier ´til Charon comes

5 Women from South Africa was a few years active in the popmusic. They made wonderful music most of covers.

Clout-You got all of me 1978

You set a light to the fire in me
With that animal look in your eyes
I can feel something exciting in me
Every part of my body is coming alive

You found the hidden desire in me
As you stepped right into my mind
You qualify for a licence to love
And I wanna be with you for the rest of my life

You've got all of me
You've got all of me, baby
You've got all of me
Now I want all of you
You've got all of me
You've got all of me, baby
Now I want all of you

Hearing your voice is like music to me
And you know all the words to my song
Both of our hearts and our bodies agree
We're so perfect together we just can't go wrong

You've got the right combination for me
And a talent for turning me on
You're stretching your love to the limit for me
And the message I'm getting is feeling so strong

Finally the Hobbit Unexpected Journey is out and of course I watched it (3 times already)

Far over the Misty Mountains rise

Leave us standing upon the height

What was before, we see once more

Is our kingdom, a distant light

Fiery mountain beneath the moon

The words aren’t spoken, we’ll be there soon

For home a song that echoes on

And all who find us will know the tune

Some folk we never forget Some kind we never forgive

Haven’t seen the back of us yet

We’ll fight as long as we live

All lies on the hidden door To the Lonely Mountain bourne

We’ll ride in the gathering storm

Until we get our long forgotten gold

We lay under the Misty Mountains cold In slumbers deep, and dreams of gold

We must awake, our lives to make

And in the darkness a torch we hold From long ago when lanterns burned

Until this day our hearts have yearned

A fate unknown; the Arkenstone

What was stolen must be returned

We must away, and make the day

To find our song, for heart and soul Some folk we never forget

Some kind we never forgive Haven’t seen the end of it yet

We’ll fight as long as we live

All lies on the hidden door

To the Lonely Mountain bourne

We’ll ride in the gathering storm

ill we get our long forgotten gold

Far away the Misty Mountains cold

(Neil Finn, known from Crowded House)

Great song. Great music and I love the bombastic in it.

Little River Band

It is a long way

What a wonderful song this is. I love to listen to it and sing along.

Riding on the Road and this long version on the radio.. A great masterpiece!

Hey everybody yeah, don't you feel that there's something?
Feel it, feel it?
Hey everybody yeah, don't you feel that there's something?

People on their own are getting nowhere,
I am on the road to see,
If anything is anywhere and waiting, just for me.

Everynight I walk around the city.
Seems like I'll never know,
That feeling of being together when I go.

And it's a long way there, it's a long way to where I'm going,
And it's a long way there, it's a long way to where I'm going.

Hey everybody, don't you feel that there's something, but you know
In a moment it is gone.
I live for the day when I can hear people saying that they know and
They care for everyone
But I feel like I've been here for the whole of my life, never knowing
Home.

It's a long way.
It's a long, long, long way there,
I'm gonna keep on tryin',
I'm gonna keep on tryin', yeah,
I'm gonna keep on tryin',
I'm gonna keep on tryin', ah!

Been away from home for such a long time,
And got to know this town,
But I don't seem to matter much to anyone, who's around
Is there anybody around?

Everynight I walk around the city,
Seems like I'll never know,
The feeling of being together when I go.

And it's a long way there, it's a long way to where I'm going,
And it's a long way there, it's a long way to where I'm going.
Everybody knows it’s a long way there,
Oh, everybody knows it’s a long way there.
Mmm, it’s a long way

Driving around’s kind of getting me down and I know, and I know
It’s a long long way there
It’s such a long long way, long way

Hey everybody yeah,
Don't you feel that there's something?
Feel it, feel it?
Hey everybody yeah,
Don't you feel that there's something?

Shirley Bassey

This diva has a powerful voice and the message and the attitude is so strong and great. I like it very much. Wish I could sing like that. Wish I could sing from my lungs: This is my Life!

Funny how a lonely day, can make a person say:
What good is my life
Funny how a breaking heart, can make me start to say:
What good is my life
Funny how I often seem, to think I'll find another dream
In my life
Till I look around and see, this great big world is part of me
And my life
This is my life
Today, tomorrow, love will come and find me
But that's the way that I was born to be
This is me
This is me

This is my life
And I don't give a damn for lost emotions
I've such a lot of love I've got to give
Let me live
Let me live

Sometime when I feel afraid, I think of what a mess I've made

Of my life
Crying over my mistakes, forgetting all the breaks I've had
In my life
I was put on earth to be, a part of this great world is me
And my life
Guess I'll just add up the score, and count the things I'm grateful for
In my life
This Is my life
Today, tomorrow, love will come and find me
But that's the way that I was born to be
This is me
This is me

This is my life
And I don't give a damn for lost emotions
I've such a lot of love I've got to give
Let me live
Let me live
This is my life

Agnetha's ABBA has a new song: When you really love someone. Soon her new album but now this song that is a good song with a smile to her ABBA time.

Enjoy !

Soul searching
Heartbroken
Eyes open
Some say
You’re only crying in the dark

Life changes, rearranges
Time passes
Some say
You’re only crying in the dark

He promised you his love would last forever
The day he said goodbye
All you wanted
Was to lay down and die

When you loved someone
Really loved someone
And you lost that one
Well, then nothing really matters
No forgiveness, no politeness
No one else to take his place
No one, no one
Oh-ooh

Come together, honey
Let him go now, honey
Save your heart
They say
No more crying in the dark

Gotta break loose, have some fun
Let yourself go
Come undone
I know your friends mean well, but
Ooh

When you loved someone
Really loved someone
And you lost that one
Well, then nothing really matters
No forgiveness, no politeness
No one else to take his place
No one, no one
When you really loved someone

Loved someone
You’ll never be the same

Hmm…
When you loved someone
Really loved someone
And you lost that one
Well, then nothing really matters
No forgiveness, no politeness
No one else to take his place
No one, no one
No one
When you really loved someone.

Pink Floyd - Hey You

(from the Wall)

Hey you! out there in the cold
Getting lonely, getting old, can you feel me
Hey you! Standing in the aisles
With itchy feet and fading smiles, can you feel me
Hey you! don't help them to bury the live
Don't give in without a fight.
Hey you! out there on your own
Sitting naked by the phone would you touch me
Hey you! with your ear against the wall
Waiting for someone to call out would you touch me
Hey you! would you help me to carry the stone
Open your heart, I'm coming home
But it was only a fantasy
The wall was too high as you can see
No matter how he tried he could not break free
And the worms ate into his brain.
Hey you! out there on the road
Always doing what you're told, can you help me
Hey you! out there beyond the wall
Breaking bottles in the hall, can you help me
Hey you! don't tell me there's no hope at all
Together we stand, divided we fall.

It took a while before this song found the way to my heart. It is great and as a Harplover I so like the tones in it. From 2011

Swinging in the backyard
Pull up in your fast car
Whistling my name

Open up a beer
And you say get over here
And play a video game

I'm in his favorite sun dress
Watching me get undressed
Take that body downtown

I say you the bestest
Lean in for a big kiss
Put his favorite perfume on

Go play a video game

It's you, it's you, it's all for you
Everything I do
I tell you all the time
Heaven is a place on earth with you
Tell me all the things you want to do
I heard that you like the bad girls
Honey, is that true?
It's better than I ever even knew
They say that the world was built for two
Only worth living if somebody is loving you
Baby now you do

Singing in the old bars
Swinging with the old stars
Living for the fame

Kissing in the blue dark
Playing pool and wild darts
Video games

He holds me in his big arms
Drunk and I am seeing stars
This is all I think of

Watching all our friends fall
In and out of Old Paul's
This is my idea of fun
Playing video games

It's you, it's you, it's all for you
Everything I do
I tell you all the time
Heaven is a place on earth with you
Tell me all the things you want to do
I heard that you like the bad girls
Honey, is that true?
It's better than I ever even knew
They say that the world was built for two
Only worth living if somebody is loving you
Baby now you do

(Now you do)
(Now you do)
(N-Now you do)
(N-Now you do)
(Now you do)
(Now you do)

It's you, it's you, it's all for you
Everything I do
I tell you all the time
Heaven is a place on earth with you
Tell me all the things you want to do
I heard that you like the bad girls
Honey, is that true?
It's better than I ever even knew
They say that the world was built for two
Only worth living if somebody is loving you
Baby now you do

A really golden oldie from 1969 Mahna Mahna wrote his famous song but on the back I love this song with the title Daydream. Thanks to the muppets the Mahna Mahna song became a succes. But the other side is great too!

A wonderful song with magic tones here

By the waters of Babylon
We lay down and wept and
Wept for these I am
We remember, we remember, we
Remember these I am

A golden helmet blinded minds
Among ten thousand swords
Along the road to Babylon
A golden thunder silenced songs
Among ten thousand voices
On the road to Babylon

Well, well, well, beware that golden helmet
Well, well, well
There's no easy way to go
Well, well, well
No easy road to follow
Well, well, well

A golden ocean turned to fire
And burned ten thousand ships
Along the road to Babylon
Golden dreamer touched the sky
Alone in empty silence
On the road to Babylon

Well, well, well
Beware that golden thunder
Well, well, well
That dreamed and sang the song
Well, well, well
The empty sound of sorrow

It Doesn't Matter by Alison Krauss & Union Station
It doesn't matter what I want
It doesn't matter what I need
It doesn't matter if I cry
Don't matter if I bleed
You've been on a road
Don't know where it goes or where it leads

It doesn't matter what I want
It doesn't matter what I need
If you've made up your mind to go
I won't beg you to stay
You've been in a cage
Throw you to the wind you fly away

It doesn't matter what I want
It doesn't matter what I need
It doesn't matter if I cry
Don't matter if I bleed
Feel the sting of tears
Falling on this face you've loved for years

What a hearttouching song. It feels deep. This is a song for a forgotten moment. When it rains outside and you feel lost and alone.

The Mother Road by Jelke van Houten

From the movie Jackie

In this song the singer Jelke van Houten has a great song and the Mother road song is really touching your heart. I so love it.

From the tv series McLeods Daughters sings Rebecca Lavelle; Broken Dreams

Rebecca Lavelle is an Australian singer. Rebecca started singing and dancing when she was three years old. Often she sings songs on McLeod Daughters.

David Gilmour and Mark Gilmour (his brother)

I cant breath anymore

Never heard this song but as a lot of songs David Gilmour I like this one

I can't breathe anymore
Why that is I'm not sure
I've got my feet on the ground
In fact I'm flat on the floor
My direction is lost
I should pause to take stock
It's a new one on me
To even dream that you're free

It's a tale without an end
But the end is there for all to see
And if the end weren't so real
Coming around and 'round again on me
I guess it's all about my pride
I want to be there if it kills
But with or without God on my side
I know that I really will

Something totally different now: Weird al Yankovic

Amy Nuttall - Scarborough Fair

Amy Nuttall  is an English actress and singer

With melancholy I listen to this song:

Are you going to Scarborough Fair?
Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme
Remember me to one who lives there
He once was a true love of mine

Tell him to make me a cambric shirt
Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme
Without no seams nor needle work
Then he\'ll be a true love of mine

Tell him to find me an acre of land
Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme
Between salt water and the sea strands
Then he\'ll be a true love of mine

Tell him to reap it with a sickle of leather
Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme
And gather it all in a bunch of heather
Then he\'ll be a true love of mine

Are you going to Scarborough Fair?
Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme
Remember me to one who lives there
He once was a true love of mine

Sandra van Nieuwland

has a new song and her voice is good to hear so this is what I listen to now

A Very Touchy Song I so like. It seem to sing straigth from the heart

Jewel with Foolish Games

http://www.jeweljk.com/

You took your coat off and stood in the rain.
You're always crazy like that.
I watched from my window, always felt I was outside
looking in on you.
You were always the mysterious one with
dark eyes and careless hair you were
fashionably sensitive but too cool to care.
You stood in my doorway, you got nothin to say
besides some comment on the weather

Well in case you failed to notice, in case you failed to see.
This is my heart, bleeding before you.
This is me down on my knees.
And these foolish games are tearing me apart.
And your thoughtless words are breaking my heart.
Breaking my heart...

You're always brilliant in the morning
You're smoking your cigarettes
And talking over coffee.
Your philosophies on art, Baroque moved you, you loved Mozart.
And you speak of your loved ones
as I clumsily strum my guitar.

Well excuse me, guess I've mistaken you for somebody else.
Somebody who gave a damn, somebody more like myself.
And these foolish games are tearing me, tearing me, tearing me apart.
And your thoughtless words are breaking my heart...
You're breaking my heart.

You took your coat off and stood in the rain.
You're always crazy like that.

David Bowie with Where are we Now?

A new song that keeps you thinking about you and where you stand in life!

Glad to see David Bowie still make songs.

After he died I discovered him more. He has written and sung the wonderful W.O.L.D. but this is also great.

"Taxi"

It was raining hard in 'Frisco
I needed one more fare to make my night
A lady up ahead waved to flag me down
She got in at the light

Oh, where you going to, my lady blue
It's a shame you ruined your gown in the rain
She just looked out the window
She said, Sixteen Parkside Lane

Something about her was familiar
I could swear I'd seen her face before
But she said, I'm sure you're mistaken
And she didn't say anything more

It took a while, but she looked in the mirror
And she glanced at the license for my name
A smile seemed to come to her slowly
It was a sad smile, just the same

And she said, How are you Harry
I said, How are you Sue
Through the too many miles
And the too little smiles
I still remember you

It was somewhere in a fairy tale
I used to take her home in my car
We learned about love in the back of a Dodge
The lesson hadn't gone too far

You see, she was gonna be an actress
And I was gonna learn to fly
She took off to find the footlights
And I took off to find the sky

Oh, I've got something inside me
To drive a princess blind
There's a wild man, wizard
He's hiding in me, illuminating my mind
Oh, I've got something inside me
Not what my life's about
'Cause I've been letting my outside tide me
Over 'til my time, runs out

(Yes, she's flying, afraid to fall)
(I'll tell you why baby's crying)
('Cause she's dying, aren't we all)

There was not much more for us to talk about
Whatever we had once was gone
So I turned my cab into the driveway
Past the gate and the fine trimmed lawns

And she said, we must get together
But I knew it'd never be arranged
And she handed me twenty dollars
For a two fifty fare
She said, Harry, keep the change

Well, another man might have been angry
And another man might have been hurt
But another man never would've let her go
I stashed the bill in my shirt

And she walked away in silence
It's strange, how you never know
But we'd both gotten what we'd asked for
Such a long, long time ago

You see, she was gonna be an actress
And I was gonna learn to fly
She took off to find the footlights
And I took off for the sky

And here, she's acting happy
Inside her handsome home
And me, I'm flying in my taxi
Taking tips, and getting stoned
I go flying so high, when I'm stoned

The autumn winds upon us
In cool crisp wisps of air
As trees turn into artwork
Such beauty we now share

With colors warmed to dazzle
Our spirits with delight
Filling hearts with bounty
Of love at our "first sight"

Such majesty is captured
Within this season blest
Each color of Fall's pallet
God's sign of nature's rest

So grand the earth around us
As nature's shows the power
Through canvas of His glory
In Fall's most finest hour.

When music is your only friend

Beautiful Songs
I listen to in 2013
